Food Network Names Wayside Restaurant’s Maple Cream Pie the Iconic Pie for Vermont!

Wayside Restaurant’s Bakery Team holds their Food Network award high celebrating a sweet victory! Over the years they have made thousands of tasty maple cream pies for locals and tourists alike. Gourmet Magazine once wrote in their Thanksgiving issue, “The Wayside Restaurant’s maple cream pie is too delicious for words!”

Pie is so much more than just a dessert. There’s a feeling of nostalgia and comfort in every bite, not to mention a strong sense of place. Turns out you can learn a lot about a state’s agricultural and historical traditions by eating its pie!

The Food Network recently identified pies in each of the 50 states they felt are worthy of a taste. The Wayside Restaurant, Bakery & Creamery‘s maple cream pie was selected as the iconic pie of Vermont.

The Green Mountain state produced 2.07 million gallons in 2019, about half of the nation’s maple syrup. It’s no surprise that Vermonters have developed so many delicious ways to consume it.

Located on the Barre-Montpelier Road for the past 101 years, the Wayside has become known for its homemade pies. To learn more about the other 49 iconic pies in America go to the 50 States of Pie”.
