Pie is so much more than just a dessert. There’s a feeling of nostalgia and comfort in every bite, not to mention a strong sense of place. Turns out you can learn a lot about a state’s agricultural and historical traditions by eating its pie!
The Food Network recently identified pies in each of the 50 states they felt are worthy of a taste. The Wayside Restaurant, Bakery & Creamery‘s maple cream pie was selected as the iconic pie of Vermont.
The Green Mountain state produced 2.07 million gallons in 2019, about half of the nation’s maple syrup. It’s no surprise that Vermonters have developed so many delicious ways to consume it.
